Election Security

Transparency Measures

  • Election observers (local and international) monitor the process
  • Agents from each candidate/party observe polling and tallying
  • Ballot boxes are sealed and serialised
  • Results are announced at the polling station and transmitted to constituency and national tallying centres

Vote Counting

Counting happens at the polling station in the presence of agents and observers. Results are recorded on Form 34A, signed by the presiding officer and agents, and posted for public view. They are then transmitted to the constituency and national level.

Result Verification

The IEBC verifies results at each level. Presidential results are announced by the Chairperson after verification. Anyone aggrieved can petition the Supreme Court (for presidential) or the High Court (for other positions) within the legally prescribed period.

Reporting Irregularities

If you witness bribery, intimidation, or malpractice, report to IEBC, the police, or accredited observers. Electoral offences are punishable by law.
