How to Vote on Election Day

What to Bring

  • Original National ID or Kenyan passport
  • Your voter registration slip (if you have it)
  • Know your polling station—verify beforehand via IEBC portal or SMS to 70000

Voting Steps

  1. Go to your assigned polling station (check via IEBC verification)
  2. Present your ID to the presiding officer
  3. Your name is checked in the register and your finger is marked with indelible ink
  4. You receive ballot papers for each position (President, Governor, MP, MCA, etc.)
  5. Mark your choice in secret in the voting booth
  6. Fold the ballot and drop it in the ballot box

Important Tips

  • Vote only at your assigned polling station
  • Polls open at 6:00 AM and close at 5:00 PM
  • If you are in the queue by 5:00 PM, you will be allowed to vote
  • Mark only one candidate per position unless otherwise instructed
  • Do not take photos of your marked ballot
